I'm RJ and I love what I get to do.
I'm a husband to my wonderful wife, Jessica, and dad to our son Elijah and our daughters Emaline and Alice. I serve as Pastor at the church my wife and I have grown up at, Faith Troy in Michigan. I serve as the leader of our NextGen (birth-college-age) team.
My goal with this blog is to write. I love to write about the things I'm passionate about. I believe that theology shouldn't be something that is reserved for the academics and dead guys, but should be something flows into everyday life. A good theology should shape the way we parent, the way we relate to our spouse, the way we do our work, and the way we interact with our neighbors.
As I've been blogging, there have occasionally been posts that either have been significantly more popular than others or I simply enjoyed them more than the others. If you haven't been following the blog for long, I would love for you to check out some of my favorite posts.
A few of my favorites:
And some posts I've written for other great sites:
I worship and serve on staff at Faith Lutheran Church. Faith is a family that is committed to seeing those far from God adopted into the family of God. My family and I have grown up at Faith and love that our family will grow up at the same place. If you happen to enjoy the way I talk about theology on this site, you'll likely also like Faith as I was formed by the teaching and the ministry of the congregation that I now serve in.
Sundays - 9:15 and 11:00am
Note: The thoughts and opinions shared on this site and other blogs I contribute to are my own and do not necessarily represent those of Faith Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
To get an idea of what our services might be like, you can check out some music by our worship team below and/or listen to one of my sermons.
In the digital realm, it can be weird to think about the value of relationships. After all, these are digital personalities that you've come to know through blogs and social media... but are they "real people"?
The truth is, as odd as this 21st century world is, blogging and social media has opened the door to several friendships that have been built around a common love for the Gospel. If you want to connect, ask a question, or see if I'm available to speak at an event, send me an e-mail using the contact form here.
